Locks are a server mechanic provided by the Bolt plugin that allow you to limit who can access your belongings.
You may keep things private to yourself, or open them up as widely or as limited as you would like to.
Locking is only possible within town claims, and requires you have the Switch permission within the plot you are trying to create the lock.
Locks that are in either Wilderness or Ruined Town will automatically unlock whenever someone attempts to access them.
Locks are applicable to both vanilla blocks and Slimefun Machines.
This is a list of vanilla blocks that can be locked on Nations.

Bolt offers a wide range of commands to help you create and manage locks, with the goal of allowing your protections to be set up for your specific situation to best protect your belongings without impacting collaborative gameplay.
| Command | Description |
|---|---|
| /bolt lock [type] | Creates a lock on the next block you click. |
| /bolt unlock | Unlocks the next locked block you click. |
| /bolt info | Shows the ownership information for the next locked block you click. |
| /bolt group <action> |
This command allows you to create groups of players that can then be assigned, as a group, permissions to This is useful to quickly trust a player to dozens of locks, or quickly remove a players access to dozens of locks. Please view the “Groups” section below for a more thorough explanation. |
| /bolt modify <action> <permission> <modificationType> [argument] | This command is used to modify protections, especially used for trusting and untrusting players or groups of players to a specific locked block. |
| /bolt mode persist |
Causes the next bolt command you use (such as This could also be used before Repeat |
| /town removelock [history] |
This command can be used by town mayors to remove locks in their own town. Players who have locks removed by a mayor are notified in-game either immediately or on their next login. Players can use |
| /bolt trust |
This command can be used to trust people to ALL of the locks you own. It is almost never recommended to grant someone access to ALL of your locks. |
Bolt provides a grouping feature which allows you to create as many named groups of players as you'd like.
This allows you to quickly manage access control across all of your locks.
As an example, let's say you have a storage area for logs and you'd like to grant players access to your entire log storage.
Instead of manually granting 10 players access to each individual chest, and instead of granting these 10 players access to all of your locks, you can create a group.
/bolt group create LogStorage
Now that you have a LogStorage group, you can run the command /bolt modify add depositandwithdraw group LogStorage and then click on the protection you would like to permit this group to interact with.
This specific modification would allow any player in the LogStorage group to deposit and withdraw items from this container.
To add players to the group, run /bolt group add LogStorage Ineusia to allow Ineusia to have access to each of your protections that LogStorage may access.
Additionally, you may view everyone in a specific group with /bolt group list LogStorage and remove players from the group with /bolt group remove LogStorage
Bolt offers 5 different types of locks to meet your needs.
Each of these lock types provide different benefits, and have different use cases. Each can be altered to allow other players specific permissions outside of the below descriptions of the lock type.
All lock types require any player who has the Switch permission on the plot that the locked block is in, including the lock owner.
A private lock is the default lock type. It reserves all permissions for the lock owner, no one can open, break, or otherwise modify something that is locked “private.”
Private locks would typically be used for personal items that you want to keep safe and share with just a few specific players.
Private locks are made using /lock, /bolt lock, /lock private, or /bolt lock private
A public lock is nearly the opposite of a private lock, a block locked “public” can be interacted with by anyone like any other block, but can only be broken by the protection holder.
Public locks are typically best in situations where you need to grant public storage or machine access but do not want things griefed.
Public locks are made using /lock public, or /bolt lock public
Display locks are a blend of Private and Public locks, players can interact with a Display lock but they cannot break it or make any modifications to the locked block/entity.
For example, a chest locked with a “display” lock type can be opened and its contents viewed by anyone, but items cannot be deposited or withdrawn.
A typical use case for this type of lock might be a “flex” chest where you flex your wealth or other belongings.
Display locks are made using /lock display, or /bolt lock display
Withdraw locks are the same as Display locks, but anyone can withdraw from them. Only the lock holder and anyone added to the lock can deposit.
Withdraw locks are made using /lock withdraw, or /bolt lock withdraw
Deposit locks are the same as Display locks, but anyone can deposit to them. Only the lock holder and anyone added to the lock can withdraw.
Deposit locks are made using /lock public, or /bolt lock public
