The Elevator is a utility subcraft. They must be a smaller part of a larger craft in order to be used (i.e., they must be a subcraft). It is a structure that can move anything made of Allowed Blocks on Craft, only up or down. It cannot be transported in any other direction.
¶ Construction
An Elevator must always be separated from its larger craft by using blocks that are allowed on the parent craft, but not allowed on Elevators (including diagonally!) This allows the parent craft to carry the Elevator, while preventing the Elevator from thinking that the parent craft is part of themselves.
To find separating blocks, you can use /craftblocks compare <parent craft type> Elevator
(Warning!) If the Elevator is not properly separated from the larger craft, it will move the entirety of the larger craft, causing the larger craft to think it has been destroyed and thus sink. You are highly encouraged to experiment with the Elevator on the creative testing server before using it on Nations.
¶ Controlling
Elevators are controlled using Subcraft Relative Move signs while controlling a larger craft. The Subcraft Relative Move sign must be placed on the Elevator. When the sign is right-clicked, the Elevator will move up and down, independently of the rest of the craft.
You can use Remote signs to trigger a Subcraft Relative Move sign remotely.
