Farming in Nations has been strategically recreated, so that the growth rates of plants vary across the map.
Specifically, their rate of growth differs depending on the biome group they are planted in. This is loosely (but intentionally not exactly) based on real-life crop growth requirements.
Crops and trees may only grow in direct skylight, with a light level of 10 and above.
However, pearlescent froglights act as artificial light sources ('UV lights') that allow crops within a 2 block radius to grow without skylight.

Plants have two attributes that shape their growth.
Normal attributes apply to all biome groups, except the biome groups listed in Modified Attributes.
If there are Normal Attributes, the plant can be planted anywhere.
If there are no Normal Attributes, the plant can only be planted in the biome groups listed in Modified Attributes.
