The Armed Merchantman (ArmedMerchantman
) is a lightly-armed cargo class. It compensates for its small cargo capacity (relative to the Cargo Ship) with its ability to use 4-inch naval guns to defend against attackers. On /craftlist
and contacts, the Armed Merchantman will be disguised as a Cargo Ship.
Like other transport crafts, the Armed Merchantman can quickly load and unload items using the cargo commands.
Armed Merchantmen use the Naval Direct Control mode. Direct Control mode (/dc
) is superior to manual movement during combat.
This means they will always cruise in the direction of their "front". If you try to cruise sideways, the craft will move diagonally in that direction instead.
The "front" of the Armed Merchantman is determined in two ways.

To pilot an Armed Merchantman, you may use the command /pilot ArmedMerchantman
while standing on an eligible Armed Merchantman.
Alternatively, you may right click a sign on the craft that has ArmedMerchantma
written on the first line. Note that the final ‘n’ is cut off due to sign length limitations.
This craft is fueled by Coal, Charcoal, Blocks of Coal, and Blocks of Charcoal placed inside an on-board Furnace.
