In this part of the Movecraft tutorial, we will cover how to build and move a Movecraft vehicle (a craft).

Every craft type has an Allowed Blocks list. The craft can only be built from these blocks.
/craftblocks <craft type>
./craftblocks check <block> <craft type>
.Crafts also have a maximum and minimum size. The number of blocks on the craft must be inside this range.
Crafts can also have Block Requirements and Block Limits. Crafts will not work if they don't have enough required blocks, or if they have too many limited blocks.
/craftcalc <craft type> <size of craft>
.
Most crafts need concrete and terracotta. On Nations, these can be easily produced using electric machines.
You can also search for concrete and terracotta shops on /market
.

Activating a craft is called “piloting”. Crafts are normal builds that cannot do anything unless they are piloted.
To pilot a craft:
/pilot <craft type>
, e.g. /pilot Corvette
. You can also right-click a Craft sign./release
. You can also right-click a Release sign. You can't add or break blocks on a piloted craft. In order to make changes, you need to release the craft first.
Sometimes piloting will fail and the reason will be sent in chat. For example, the craft might be too large or small, or not have enough required blocks.
[Look Out] A common mistake is piloting a craft next to roads and buildings that are made out of blocks allowed on the craft, so Movecraft thinks they are part of the craft and says it is too big! Be aware crafts can connect to blocks diagonally and through non-solid blocks, like torches and ladders.
/manoverboard
./manoverboard
takes you, place a sign on your craft with Manoverboard
written on the first line.
On Nations, you can pilot crafts anywhere if they are unlocked. There are two ways to lock a craft and stop it from being stolen:
These methods are only effective in claimed land, as obviously anyone can break these blocks in unclaimed land.
There are two ways to move crafts: manually and using Direct Control.
Pilot the craft and hold a stick in your main hand.
/rotate right
(/ror
) or /rotate left
(/rol
)/cruise on
. Type /cruise off
to stop./cruise <direction>
, e.g. /cruise North
.
Direct Control (DC) is the “main” way of moving crafts.
Pilot the craft and type /dc
. Your craft will begin cruising.
F
and Q
).To exit direct control mode, type /dc
again.
DC controls can differ between crafts - for example,
When this is the case, the differences are noted on the craft type's wiki page.
/fuel
or a Status sign.
Crafts can cross the Nations world border. For example, a ship can travel from North America to Japan by crossing the Pacific world border.
Building a craft on Nations by hand can be very frustrating. Fortunately, there is a solution - Shipyards. These are special crafts that can save and build crafts for you, given the necessary resources and some money.
Using Shipyards, ships can be designed and saved on the Movecraft Creative server, then automatically built on the Nations server, saving a lot of time!
Now that we know how to build and move a craft, we will look at how to arm your crafts with weapons! Click here to go to Part 2.
